He leaves behind his wife Diane of 57 years; two children, daughter Sally Shapansky and son Jerry Shapansky II; grandsons Ian (Misty) Peyton, Jerry Shapansky III, and granddaughter Keyaira Peyton; two great-grandchildren Emma and Wyatt Peyton; sisters Carol (Les) Ritcheson and Iona Bristow, and brother Joe (Cathy) Shapansky. Jerry worked in the logging industry for many years and at one time owned his own business running heavy equipment and building logging roads. He enjoyed making Polish sausages, woodworking, watching sports, going to the Casino with his sister, and spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy was Friday night family dinners. Jerry’s main passion was giving back to the community. The evolution of the Polish Eagle

Evolution of the Polish Eagle’s design from 12th century to the year 1927.
The White Eagle (in Polish: Orzeł Biały) is the national coat of arms of Poland. It is a stylized white eagle with a golden beak and talons, and wearing a golden crown, in a red shield.

The White Eagle emblem originated when Poland’s legendary founder Lech saw a white eagle’s nest. When he looked at the bird, a ray of sunshine from the red setting sun fell on its wings, so they appeared tipped with gold, the rest of the eagle was pure white. He was delighted and decided to settle there and placed the eagle on his emblem.
